The Pirates made a rather unexpected move Monday afternoon, acquiring left-handed pitcher Dillon Peters from the Los Angeles Angels.
Peters, 28, appeared in eight games with the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate, Salt Lake Bees, this season, and posted a 2-2 record with a 4.35 ERA in 41 innings pitched. Opponents also collected a .285 average this season off him.
His last stint in the MLB came during the truncated 2020 season where he allowed three earned runs in one appearance.
He will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Pirates designated right-handed pitcher Kyle Crick for assignment.
