The Penguins have recall forward Kasper Bjorkqvist from their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.
Bjorkqvist has one goal in four games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.
He is 6-foot-1, 198 pounds and was the Penguins' second-round draft choice in 2016.
Bjorkqvist, 24, has not played a game in the NHL.
The Penguins had 12 seemingly healthy forwards at practice Monday, so it was not immediately clear whether they plan to have Bjorkqvist in the lineup when they face the Lighning Tuesday at 7:08 p.m. or if he simply was brought up as insurance.
