CRANBERRY, Pa. -- The Penguins put defenseman Juuso Riikola and forward Michael Chaput on waivers on Friday.
If Riikola and Chaput go unclaimed, they can clear waivers on Saturday at 2 p.m.
They don't have to be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton immediately after clearing. After clearing waivers, a player can stay on the active NHL roster for up to 10 games played or 30 days -- whichever comes first -- before they would need waivers again to be re-assigned to the minors.
Goaltender Louis Domingue cleared waivers on Friday and was promptly assigned to Wilkes-Barre, bringing the number of players in camp down to 29.
