Last week, I wrote that the Pirates would have a hard time signing Ivan Nova because of his market value.
There were some around the organization holding out hope he might be willing to stay for less money because he apparently loves the organization and working with Ray Searage.
That seemed to be a nice thought, but Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Pirates reporter Bill Brink confirmed Thursday that’s probably a pipe dream. Brink reported that Nova isn’t going to come cheap and that his camp is seeking somewhere in the neighborhood of five years and $70 million.
