This hasn’t been an offseason for Pirates fans to celebrate. The team seemingly has punted on 2018, doing nothing of significance to upgrade a roster that won 75 games last season. Worse, the Pirates traded away their best two players and have spent the past few weeks trying to persuade everyone that the addition of Colin Moran has solved their problem at third base.
They did add Daniel Nava, so maybe Neal Huntington isn’t lying about trying to compete. ... OK, that’s going a step or two (or 10) too far, but Nava is proof the Pirates are trying to strengthen their bench.
