On Tuesday night, Paul Skenes threw six shutout frames in Indianapolis. The top prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates system, and the best pitching prospect in the game, looks like he’s ready.
As I wrote yesterday, I would expect Skenes to make at least one more start in Triple-A. He’s scheduled to start on Sunday in Triple-A, which would be his first two-start week, and first time pitching on four days rest. The start is also going to come against the same Buffalo team he just shut down across six innings. It will be interesting to see how they adjust to his approach.
