Ohtani takes another step in 'right direction'

PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates wasted another quality start from their rotation in a 2-1 loss to the Braves at PNC Park on Wednesday. The defeat completes the three-game sweep at the hands of Atlanta, and the Bucs tallied seven runs over their seven-game homestand while going 2-5.

Right-hander Kyle Crick led off the eighth inning by serving up a single to Dansby Swanson, followed by back-to-back walks of Adam Duvall and Ronald Acuna Jr. to load the bases with no outs. Righty Edgar Santana took over for Crick, but he was unable to escape the jam unscathed as he induced a sacrifice fly out from Freddie Freeman that scored Duvall to give the Braves the lead.
