BALTIMORE — In his eight seasons in the major leagues, there is no team Ivan Nova has faced more often than the Orioles. His 16 starts against the Orioles are tied with 16 against the Rays for the most against any one team.
The numbers thus far aren’t great: a 5.01 ERA, 17 homers allowed in 106 innings and 110 hits. But he hasn’t faced them since last July, three starts before he was traded, and he is a different pitcher now.
He has had success against some of their regulars. Manny Machado is 5 for 25 with four strikeouts.
