David Freese loses out on the Gold Glove award for NL third basemen, which went to Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies.
Freese had eight Defensive Runs Saved above average in 2017, as calculated by Baseball Info Solutions. He ranked eighth among third basemen in the major leagues in Ultimate Zone Rating, a metric similar to DRS which compares how frequently a player makes a play compared to the average player and converts that into runs saved or allowed, with 3.1. Rendon ranked first at 13.6, and Arenado second at 6.7.
Arenado had 20 Defensive Runs Saved, Rendon seven.
