The New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays have at least some level of interest in trading for Josh Harrison, according to a source.
The Mets’ current options at second base are Asdrubal Cabrera, Gavin Cecchini and Wilmer Flores. Acquiring Harrison, the notion of which Newsday reported Saturday, would give them not only a solid second baseman but another option at third, where they have struggled to backfill after David Wright’s back injury issues.
The Blue Jays have Devon Travis and Aledmys Diaz, whom they recently acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals, at second. Diaz regressed in his sophomore season after finishing fifth in the rookie of the year voting in 2016.
