It was a flashback to the old days at Miller Park for the Pirates, where nothing seemed to ever go right. It seemed like they had gotten over that recently – the Brewers being awful certainly helped – but that was not the case this weekend. Talk about a change of pace from the way they went in to the break….
To make matters worse, their starting shortstop went down like this:

It wasn’t a very smart play by Mercer to try and tag Gomez (who certainly wasn’t going to give himself up) – he could have easily flipped to second and probably still turned two, but still…I don’t see how you can look at that and not call it a bush-league play.
