INDIANAPOLIS -- He was the last player in the dugout after batting practice on Tuesday, standing by the tunnel that leads to the clubhouse.
Austin Meadows was waiting patiently for Indianapolis hitting coach Butch Wynegar to finish talking with a Lehigh Valley coach after batting practice. The 21-year-old centerfielder wanted to get some extra work done in the indoor batting cage.
And that was after Meadows took batting practice on the field for the first time in his rehabilitation process since being put on the disabled list on July 5.
“We just really started with him swinging against live pitching,” Indianapolis manager Dean Treanor said.
