PITTSBURGH -- Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen was ejected during the seventh inning of the Pirates' 4-3 win over the Dodgers at PNC Park on Sunday night for arguing a called third strike.
Home-plate umpire Chris Conroy rang up McCutchen after Casey Fien's 2-2 fastball crossed the plate, seemingly below the strike zone. McCutchen slammed down his bat to begin a remarkably rare display of frustration.
McCutchen exchanged words with Conroy, leaving behind a trail of equipment on the field as he walked back to the dugout, down the steps and into the Pirates' clubhouse.
