PITTSBURGH -- Starling Marte left the Pirates' game against the White Sox on Tuesday night at PNC Park after the first inning due to right side discomfort.
Marte, Pittsburgh's center fielder and No. 3 hitter, doubled and scored during the Pirates' four-run first against White Sox starter Reynaldo Lopez. He did not return to play defense in the second inning. Sean Rodriguez entered the game in his place.
It was not immediately clear how Marte sustained the injury. He has been one of the Pirates' best players this season, batting .
