Evgeni Malkin will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety this evening over his attack on Predators defenseman Mark Borowiecki Sunday.
At the end of the second period in the Penguins' 3-2 overtime victory against Nashville, Malkin slashed Borowiecki across the midsection, then cross-checked him in the face.
Borowiecki, who bled heavily and did not return to the game, received a slashing minor, while Malkin was assessed a double-minor for interference.
If, as expected, he is suspended, Malkin's punishment would begin when the Penguins visit the Islanders Tuesday at 7:38 p.
