The Pirates, coming off of one of the most dramatic come from behind walk off wins in PNC Park history, looked to keep the momentum going on Sunday night and take the final game of the series against the Cards. The win would pull the Pirates within 2 1/2 prior to the All Star Break.
It would be hard to fathom a game that would have as much drama than Saturday night, and lead to such a thrilling win.
But that is exactly what happened on Sunday.
Francisco Liriano got the start in the series finale, and he would allow the red birds to get on the board early on, surrendering a run in the top of the second.
