Jose Tabata ruins perfect game, Pirates get no-hit

This was classic Jose Tabata.

With Max Scherzer absolutely dominating the Pirates, cruising through the lineup three times, one strike away from the 24th perfect game in MLB history with a sold out ballpark going nuts and the entire nation watching…

Tabata stuck his elbow right into the pitch. He probably should not have been awarded first base, but he was (granted, it’s probably tough for an ump behind the catcher to see exactly what happened in real time). Major bummer for Scherzer? Sure, though it was still a bad pitch.
