Jameson Taillon has recently been sidelined with a lower ab strain. Today the Pirates announced that he will undergo surgery late next week to repair an inguinal hernia. The surgery will be performed by Dr. George Eid of the Allegheny Health Network. The timeline for his return to competition is about two months.
Obviously at this point, you can expect Taillon to miss the rest of the season, in terms of pitching in Pittsburgh. Two months would put him out until early September, although the Pirates did say "return to competition" so that could mean he would be through the rehab build up process by then.
