CHICAGO — Sitting at his locker Tuesday afternoon, Jameson Taillon glanced at his phone. It was May 8, 2018, exactly one year after he had surgery to treat testicular cancer. Taillon knew that the first anniversary of the surgery was nearing, but it hadn’t occurred to him that it had actually arrived.
Maybe that isn’t surprising. While it seems inevitable that his cancer diagnosis will always be a part of his identity, especially to fans, Taillon has mixed feelings about just how much of his life it should occupy. While he’s not afraid to talk about it, he also is not eager to bring it up.
