The Pittsburgh Pirates activated Jameson Taillon from the disabled list this afternoon. They optioned infielder Phil Gosselin to Indianapolis to make room on the active roster. Taillon has been scheduled to start tonight’s game for the last few days, so this move was expected. The Pirates will go with a shorter bench for the time being, with an extra man in the bullpen.
Taillon’s last start for the Pirates was back on May 3rd, before treatment for testicular cancer landed him on the disabled list. He has made three rehab starts since being put on the DL, one in Altoona and the last two in Indianapolis.
