Ivan Nova Named National League Pitcher of the Month for April

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Wednesday afternoon that right-handed pitcher Ivan Nova has been named the National League Pitcher of the Month for April.

Nova made five starts during the month and went at least six innings in each appearance, twice throwing complete games. Over 36 innings, he had a 1.50 ERA, with one walk and 22 strikeouts. The 30-year-old Nova had an 0.75 WHIP and held opposing hitters to a .198 batting average. He was second in the NL in ERA during April, led the league in WHIP and was the only NL pitcher to throw two complete games.
