The color of the sweatshirt was as jarring as Mark Melancon’s decision to wear it on a steamy afternoon. He sat in the visitor’s dugout at PNC Park in a red Nationals hoodie. After three and a half years in black and yellow, Melancon spent the final two months of the season in Washington.
“Oh, it’s been fun,” he said. “It’s kind of what you play for, is to be in first place and go into the playoffs. You feel like you have a real good shot of getting to the World Series and winning it.
