Josh Harrison will begin a rehab assignment with Class AA Altoona Monday as he works his way back from a broken left hand.
Harrison was hit in the hand with a pitch April 15.
“He kept his legs going really from the day of the injury and was able to keep his arm going almost from the day of the injury,” general manager Neal Huntington said. “Once the hand healed to the point he could take ground balls, we could keep him baseball-conditioned. The last thing to come was the swing because of the stress to the hand, and he was able to hit off a velocity machine this weekend and hit off a breaking ball machine this weekend.
