The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum issued a proclamation honoring Pirates usher Phil Coyne’s 81 seasons as an usher, a tenure that began in 1936 in Forbes Field.
The Hall of Fame also requested Coyne’s uniform and ID badge.
The Pirates honored Coyne before Friday’s game on his 100th birthday. In front of his territory, sections 26 and 27 down the third-base line, broadcaster Greg Brown and Pirates president Frank Coonelly presented Coyne with his plaque near a decal on the field that red “Phil 100.” The Pirates also dedicated those two sections to him.
