Gregory Polanco is back in the Pirates’ starting lineup Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds after sitting out Saturday’s game due to right foot discomfort.
Polanco was scratched Saturday after fouling a ball off the top of his foot in Friday’s game. Polanco said his foot was swollen on Saturday, but he wanted to start. After a visit to the training staff, however, he was removed from the starting lineup, although he was available to hit off the bench, he said. He was replaced by Adam Frazier in right field.
“I run and feel good, and I can play, so I’m going to play,” Polanco said.
