Gene Collier: Pirates pitchers fried again

As Mike Lange might say, “Aww, how much fried pitching can you eat?”

And yeah, OK, he might not.

I know Lange uses chicken as the subject of that famous rhetorical question, but as our attention turns ever so cautiously to baseball, it’s Pirates’ pitching that is obviously fried, and not even revered pitching coach Ray Searage can make chicken salad out of . . . this stuff.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, still waiting like a stranded PAT passenger for any belching vehicle that might transport him to his 1,000th career victory, had a good feeling about getting there Wednesday night after his so-called offense abused San Francisco righty Jeff Samardzija, which was something of an abberation.
