Josh Harrison hit the ball hard all over the yard Tuesday night, but the one he hit to spark the mini-rally that squeezed the Pirates past the St. Louis Cardinals in 11 innings carried with it little evident menace.
Gregory Polanco had just walked on a 3-1 pitch with one out in that 11th against St. Louis’ reliable Seth Maness, when Harrison sent a ball hopping past the mound like a flushed bunny.
Shortstop Jedd “With Two D’s” Gyorko got to Harrison’s hopper only in time to flop on it and flip it too far from the bag for Kolten Wong to collect it for a forceout on Polanco.
