Gene Collier: Beware of TBD and TBA

This column rarely swerves across the rumble strips into the area of consumer news, let alone advice, but there are times during the baseball season when it becomes a matter of conscience to offer polite suggestions to the ticket-buying public.

There are plenty of dynamic attractions lined up for the Pirates homestand in progress – Tuesday night was beer-sampling night, for example, and tonight is wine night, and both logical progression and the Pirates’ current circumstance would strongly urge a full-blown hard liquor promotion for Thursday, but let’s not be flip.

Us? Never.

Specifically though, here’s a little consumer tip: If, before purchasing tickets, you reference that day’s starting pitchers and your team’s entry is TBD, or TBA, proceed with caution.
