The Pittsburgh Pirates (11-24) and Cincinnati Reds (16-21) opened up a four game series with doubleheader action late Friday afternoon at PNC Park. The Pirates would drop game one, 4-2, to the Reds before shifting their focus to game two.
Slated to start game one for Pittsburgh was Steven Brault (0-1), while Luis Castillo (0-5) took the ball for Cincinnati.
The Reds got the scoring started in the second inning when Jose Garcia singled into left field, plating Aristides Aquino, and claiming a 1-0 lead.
