Frazier did not play in the Bucs' 2-1 win over the Yankees on Sunday. Manager Clint Hurdle indicated that something might be amiss when asked Monday afternoon why Frazier was not in the lineup against Cubs left-hander Brett Anderson.
"When he's in a good place to go and play, he's played against a lot of left-handers," Hurdle said. "You'll have a better understanding as time plays out."
Frazier has been one of Pittsburgh's most productive hitters early this season, and he was set to take on a bigger role with outfielder Starling Marte suspended for 80 games.
