MILWAUKEE — Catcher Francisco Cervelli is headed to the seven-day concussion list for the second time this month after continuing to experience “post-concussion” and “post-viral” symptoms, Pirates head athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday. Cervelli returned to Pittsburgh to be examined by doctors, including a concussion specialist.
Cervelli has dealt with an undisclosed “acute-on-chronic” condition since April, according to Tomczyk. On June 3, Cervelli told reporters he’d had sinus issues for roughly a week which caused fatigue and headaches, but it is unknown whether it is the sinus issues which have persisted. Cervelli sustained a concussion June 6, his only documented head injury this year.
