The Pirates suffered another major loss this offseason — and nobody knew about it until the home opener.
Francisco Cervelli, who for years has used Dean Martin’s “That’s Amore” as his walk-up song, has switched to “Paradise City” by Guns N’ Roses. Batting sixth, Cervelli walked in his first at-bat of Monday’s home opener against the Twins at PNC Park. He later scored on Colin Moran’s grand slam.
We’ll ask Cervelli about the reason for the change as soon as we’re able. Here’s what he said about the tune back in 2015:
“I think that the people really like ‘That’s Amore,’ so I’m not going to change it,” Cervelli said.
