Four more years for Altoona and Pirates

The Pirates and the Altoona Curve have extended their player development contract for another four seasons, which will take it through 2022. The Curve has already been associated with the Pirates for 20 years. The announcement was probably timed to coincide with the presentation of rings to the Curve’s 2017 players in a pregame ceremony at LECOM Park today, as the team won the Eastern League title.

The Pirates seem to have a stable group of affiliates now, although two of their agreements are up for renewal this year. Those would be the West Virginia Power and the West Virginia Black Bears.
