Baseball broadcaster Milo Hamilton, who called Pirates games for four years in the 1970s and was most recently the voice of the Houston Astros, died today at age 88, according to the Astros.
Mr. Hamilton teamed with Lanny Frattare for a four-year stint in Pittsburgh from 1976-79, including the Pirates 1979 championship season.
He was inducted into the broadcasters wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Radio Hall of Fame in 2000.
He worked for seven teams in his career, and called Hank Aaron's 715th home run in 1974, 11 no-hitters, Nolan Ryan's 4,000th strikeout in 1985 and Craig Biggio's 3,000th hit in 2007.
