Felipe Rivero would be open to a longer-term deal with the Pirates that would bring him through arbitration, the Pirates closer said Saturday, and in wide-ranging remarks, the Pirates closer said his older sister asked him to drop Scott Boras as his agent and sign with Magnus Sports.
Rivero, in town for this weekend's PiratesFest at PNC Park, said his new agent, Francis Marquez, will meet with the Pirates at MLB’s Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla., on Monday before visiting with the closer on Tuesday. Rivero has reached Super Two status and is eligible for arbitration for the first time this offseason.
