As noted at Pirates Prospects (sub. req’d), multiple reports out of Venezuela indicate that Elias Diaz’ mother has been rescued from her kidnappers. As I understand it, the driver of the getaway van was arrested, as were police officers who were involved, including one who notified the perpetrators when Diaz left the house. What a mess of a country! Anyway, the operative words appear to be “safe and sound,” which is what matters.
