Duane Underwood Returns to Pirates; Kranick Optioned to Indianapolis

The Pittsburgh Pirates activated pitcher Duane Underwood Jr. from the 10-day injured list on Thursday night, shortly before game time. To make room on the 26-man roster, pitcher Max Kranick has been optioned to Indianapolis.

Underwood Jr pitched just one game for the Pirates this year before going on the injured list with a hamstring strain. He allowed a hit (and run) to the only batter he faced back on April 7th in the season opener. He has pitched four rehab games since then, seeing time with three different affiliates. He allowed one run in 4.2 innings during those games.
