CHICAGO — The Twitter account for Aguilas Cibaenas, a team in the Dominican Winter League, announced a deal with Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang Tuesday.
It is unclear if this means Kang has acquired a visa to play in the Dominican Republic.
“We know we have a club that will play him, provided we can get him into the country,” Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said Sunday. “That will make up for some of his lost at-bats this summer and put him in a position where if we’re able to secure a visa for him this offseason, he won’t have been 18 months without playing competitively.
