Last time the Pirates faced Max Scherzer, the story was all about a man with a lips tattoo on his neck getting hit by a pitch. (Oh, and that whole no-hitter thing.)
I like this storyline a little better.
Pedro got the party started – OF COURSE he comes alive after the trade talk heats up – but after Jeff Locke squandered the early lead and it seemed like Scherzer would find a groove….he didn’t….thanks to a series of phenomenal at bats in the fifth.
Don’t forget about Jaff Decker, an OBP machine in Indy, starting it off with an 8-pitch walk as a pinch hitter.
