Gerrit Cole‘s best trait this year has been his consistency. He’s been nearly automatic getting deep into games and giving the Pirates an excellent chance to win each one. The really great thing about his arm and stuff is that he can be effective without perfect location or tons of movement. That’s sort of how this game was going through five innings – he stumbled a bit in a two-run first (though the runs were unearned), then just quietly worked his way to the sixth as the Bucs battled back and took a 4-2 lead.
