Jameson Taillon and manager Clint Hurdle spoke Sunday morning about Taillon’s frustration with not only a quick hook Saturday evening but the fact that a reliever was warming in the first place.
“I believe in communication, I believe in listening to players and I believe in sharing individual truths and team truths,” Hurdle said. “I think we had one of our best conversations ever in here this morning.”
Taillon had a pitch count in the mid-60s when he said he saw Edgar Santana warming with one out in the seventh inning. The Pirates were leading 2-0 and Taillon had his best stuff of the year, having allowed two singles through six scoreless innings.
