It seemed like the Arizona Diamondbacks couldn’t miss Chad Kuhl’s pitches Thursday. After they scored eight times against him in two-plus innings, he wondered if they knew what was coming.
Kuhl previously has had issues tipping his pitches, breathing heavily before his fastballs but not before his breaking stuff. On Friday, though, Pirates staff told Kuhl they didn’t see much of that in Thursday’s start. The only thing they could point to was the placement of his hands at the start of his delivery.
“Maybe just a little bit of inconsistency when I was bringing my hands up in the stretch, but I just think it was more of a location issue,” Kuhl said.
