Cervelli leaves with left wrist discomfort

If Cervelli misses more than a few days, the Pirates would have to consider calling up catching prospect Elias Diaz from Triple-A Indianapolis. Chris Stewart, who began the season as Cervelli's backup, is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona on Friday. Diaz is the Pirates' 10th-ranked prospect, according to MLBPipeline.com.

Cervelli underwent surgery on June 11 to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, the result of a violent swing on June 10. He returned on July 19 and hit .289 with a .348 on-base percentage in 14 games between then and Tuesday night, when he ripped a double high off the Clemente Wall in right field.
