After a deplorable start to 2016 with the West Virginia Power, the Pirates chose to send the 2015 third-round draft pick to Extended Spring Training in Bradenton, Florida. Prior to being sent down, Hughston struggled with a high strikeout rate, as well as deflated offensive numbers.
