Cardinals' Piscotty leaves game after scary collision

St. Louis Cardinals rookie left fielder Stephen Piscotty was removed in the seventh inning of Monday's series opener between the Pirates and Cardinals after colliding with center fielder Peter Bourjos.

“Stephen Piscotty suffered a head contusion,” the Cardinals announced on Twitter. “[He] is being taken to local hospital for further exams.”

Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison led off the seventh inning of a scoreless game with a fly ball to deep left-center field. The outfielders converged near the warning track, and Bourjos slid while Piscotty dived.

Bourjos' left knee appeared to connect with Piscotty's head. Bourjos, who made the catch, immediately waved for trainers, and medical personnel from both teams rushed out to attend to Piscotty, who lay on the ground and made very few movements.
