Cannonballs Coming: Three hits for Meadows and Newman, Luplow hits 13th homer

Indianapolis defeated Gwinnett 5-3 as Austin Meadows went 3-4 with two doubles and Gift Ngoepe was 2-4 with a home run. Clay Holmes labored through five innings as only 51 of 96 pitches were thrown for strikes. He ended his day with only one earned run, although his error contributed to Gwinnett's second run. Ngoepe's home run was a line-drive shot to left field. Meadows followed with an impressive at-bat in which he worked a deep count before pounding a line-drive double to left-center field. Aside from five hits between Meadows and Ngoepe, the rest of the Indy lineup was quiet, although Jason Rogers did hit a pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the eighth.
