The Pittsburgh Pirates placed catcher Chris Stewart on the 15-day disabled list with left knee discomfort Monday and added catcher Eric Fryer to their active roster.
Stewart has battled multiple leg injuries over the past few weeks, and he missed the Pirates' last two games. The veteran backstop was hitting .198 with one home run and seven RBIs in 31 games before being placed on the DL.
