NEW YORK -- The Pirates made a few roster moves Wednesday afternoon. Right-handed pitcher Tanner Anderson was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis, Sean Rodriguez was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right quad strain and A.J. Schugel moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster for Anderson.
According to Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk, Rodriguez has been experiencing discomfort in the right quad area for a week or so and has come to a point where he is "not in a good spot to compete."
Anderson, 25, was Pittsburgh's 20th-round selection in the 2015 MLB Draft out of Harvard University.
