PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates have agreed to terms with outfielder Gregory Polanco on a five-year contract extension that includes two club options, an industry source told MLB.com on Sunday.
Polanco's deal is worth $35 million, according to FOXSports.com, and more than $60 million if both club options are exercised. The club has not confirmed or commented on the agreement, which was first reported by Yahoo Sports.
Pittsburgh tried to sign Polanco to a long-term deal each of the past two years, to no avail. Attending the club's annual minicamp in mid-January, Polanco said publicly he was still interested in signing a long-term deal, but he'd heard "nothing" about any negotiations taking place.
