Bucs' bats thwarted vs. Cards in series finale

PITTSBURGH -- Trevor Williams extended his scoreless-innings streak to 21 1/3 in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, but the run came to an end as he allowed a pair of runs in the fifth and the Pirates fell to St. Louis, 2-1, at PNC Park.

After striking out Jack Flaherty on four pitches to open the fifth inning, Williams served a four-seam fastball that Matt Carpenter belted to right field for a solo home run. He then gave up a single to Yadier Molina, who advanced to third on a Jose Martinez single and scored on Jedd Gyorko's RBI single to left, making it 2-0.
